July 5, 2026 show: Dylan Block, Galen Will, and Lefty Grove

Announcing a show at The Jungle in Somerville on Sunday, July 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The bar and kitchen open at 4pm. $5-10 suggested donation. 21+.

Dylan Block

Dylan Block restores the classic sound of rock to its old-school glory, with hints of funk, soul, and R&B. He delivers songs of love, wonder, and nostalgia with his easygoing, laconic vocals. His band creates a shimmering sunset beach vibe reminiscent of Eric Clapton and Los Lonely Boys. His debut album “Old Souls” features soulful singing from both Dylan himself and vocalist Carrie Johnson.

Galen Will

Galen Will has planted his freak flag in novel sonic territory somewhere between jazz, funk, and feel-good pop. His songs feature philosophical lyrics over funky drums and kaleidoscopic harmonies. For fans of Dave Matthews, James Taylor, and Earth Wind and Fire. His debut single “I’m Just Weird” is out now on Bandcamp.

Lefty Grove

Lefty Grove plays their own brand of punk rock. Their songs are sometimes ragged and raging, sometimes poignant and pretty; whimsical and eccentric, yet raw and honest. Fans of punk rock might say they sound like Rancid and Title Fight, but don’t let that fool you into thinking you know what you’re going to hear. Get ready for classic punk guitar riffs, pulse-pounding bass and drums, and Patrick Reynolds’s compelling voice. And don’t forget your applesauce.

Galen Will “I’m Just Weird” coming May 28, release show May 31

Galen Will announces the release date for “I’m Just Weird,” a new personal anthem for whomever may need it.

It has been fourteen years since his first release, “Forces of Nature” (2012). Bassist Galen Will has now rebranded himself as a singer/songwriter, making a bold opening statement with “I’m Just Weird.”

The lyrics convey giddiness – “I’m just weird / as only I can be / and I feel free / because I’m just weird” – yet also gentleness: “It’s not always easy to do, so if you’re a weirdo too / I hope you never give up being strange.”

The music spans stylistic boundaries with acoustic and electric instruments. It features funky drums, energetic horns, and kaleidoscopic harmonies. Keyboard player Utar Artun contributes a suitably kinetic layer of electric piano. Galen unleashes a triumphant bass solo before the gentle third verse, culminating in a hurricane of a final chorus.

To make sure you don’t miss the release, subscribe to Galen Will’s email list. The song will be released on a short list of carefully selected platforms including BandCamp.com and YouTube.

A release show is planned for May 31 at Follow Your Art Community Studios in Melrose from 2-4pm, featuring Galen Will with a live band.
